Inqilab Moncho Vows Action Over Spokesperson’s Murder, Demands Immediate Arrests
Dhaka, Bangladesh – In the wake of the tragic assassination of its spokesperson, Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Inqilab Moncho has announced a series of protest actions, escalating its demands for justice and accountability. The political platform has declared an immediate protest rally, scheduled to commence on Monday at 3:00 PM. This demonstration will begin with a march from Shaheed Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh, culminating at Shaheed Minar, a significant national monument.
The announcement of the rally follows Inqilab Moncho’s expression of deep dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the killing. In a recent social media update, the platform stated that its core demands have yet to be met. Specifically, Inqilab Moncho highlighted its disappointment regarding the absence of key government figures at a press conference. The Home Affairs Adviser and Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Interim Government holding the rank of State Minister, were notably absent, a fact that has fueled the platform’s frustration.
Inqilab Moncho has leveled serious accusations, alleging that individuals described as “Hasina’s agents” operating within both civil and military intelligence agencies have not been apprehended. This assertion points to a belief within the organization that the investigation is being deliberately hampered or that complicity at higher levels is being overlooked.
Furthermore, the platform has openly criticized the authorities’ handling of the investigation, particularly what it perceives as an attempt to “downplay” the gravity of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi’s murder. The decision to lead a press conference regarding the incident by an Additional Inspector General of Police, rather than higher-ranking officials or political representatives, has been seen as a deliberate tactic to minimize the significance of the assassination.
In response to the perceived lack of progress and governmental indifference, Inqilab Moncho has also organized its own press conference. This event is slated for Monday at 12:00 PM, at Shaheed Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh. During this conference, the platform intends to unveil its comprehensive future programs and outline its non-negotiable demands to the authorities.
The Tragic Assassination of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, a prominent figure within Inqilab Moncho and a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was the victim of a brutal attack on December 12. He was traveling in a rickshaw on Culvert Road in Puratan Paltan when he was shot in the head.
Following the initial attack, immediate efforts were made to secure advanced medical treatment. Osman Hadi was airlifted to Singapore in a critical condition. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his severe injuries on the night of December 18.
His body was subsequently returned to Bangladesh, where he was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon, around 3:30 PM. His final resting place is of particular significance, situated beside the grave of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, near the Dhaka University Central Mosque. This location underscores his perceived importance within the nation’s cultural and political landscape.
The circumstances surrounding his death, coupled with the perceived inaction of the authorities, have galvanized Inqilab Moncho and its supporters, setting the stage for heightened protests and demands for justice in the coming days. The platform’s commitment to transparency and its call for the immediate arrest of all individuals involved, including those it alleges are operating under political influence, signal a determined effort to bring the perpetrators and their enablers to account. The upcoming press conference and rally are expected to shed further light on Inqilab Moncho’s strategic approach to navigating this critical period.
