A Thai pageant contestant has gone viral for all the right reasons, in an energetic departure from routine that has left the internet in stitches.
In lieu of the practiced, polished moves consistent with her pageantry counterparts, Darathorn Yoothong opted for a slightly less conventional take on the Miss Grand Thailand event’s swimsuit segment dance.
As her fellow contestants stood statuesque, swaying to the music, Yoothong had other ideas – not allowing traditional pageant protocol to prevent her busting a move.

In the now-viral clip gracing feeds far and wide, Yoothong’s colourful choreography and refusal to walk the line stood out in the best way.
In a sweeping shot of the contestants as they danced during the competition’s preliminary rounds, Yoothong was shown giving a decidedly theatrical rendition of pageantry’s typical fare.

Shuffling – in five inch heels, no less – she busted out in a high-energy, hip-hop inspired set that has since been dubbed ‘The Kalasin Strut’.
But unfortunately it seems the judges weren’t quite as besotted by the lively contestant as the internet currently is, with her only placing within the top 20 in the competition’s final rankings.
Yoothong, who is a professional dancer when she isn’t wearing a sash, received an outpouring of appreciation from both new and old fans, with many calling for her to be crowned the event’s winner.
The comments of one video in particular, posted by meme account @notkidguppy on Instagram, named the pageant contestant as “the main character” of the event.
“She shoulda won right then and there,” one fan stated.
“Now, this is what they wanna see when they ask ‘what’s your unique talent?'” another said.

Even the subject of the viral video herself saw fit to leave a comment on the clip, simply replying “Brooooooooooo” in a self-deprecating response to her own dance.
She later took to Instagram to thank fans for the love, stating that her goal had been to “just truly be herself”.
“This is honestly unbelievable than I ever imagined [sic].”
“Thankyou so much for the love from everyone all around the world. I promise I’ll be back stronger and even more fun.”
