Dianne Buswell, a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, has celebrated one week of motherhood after welcoming her first child, Bowden Mark Richard Sugg, with her partner Joe Sugg. The 36-year-old shared the exciting news on Wednesday (18 March) that she had given birth to a son. She posted a photo of herself cradling baby Bowie at home, captioning it with a heartfelt message.
“Our first weekend of many together my little Bowie,” the dancer wrote alongside the sweet image on Instagram. “P.S. Can confirm he did not inherit my toe thumb,” she joked.
Buswell also revealed that Sugg, 34, had treated her to breakfast in bed with a bowl of fruit and yoghurt. “When daddy makes you breakfast in bed,” she wrote alongside a photo shared to her story.

The couple’s son was seemingly given the middle name Mark in a tribute to the dancer’s father, who was treated for cancer in 2023. Buswell said she had “never felt a love” like the one she felt in the first few days of parenthood, which had been “the most magical time of my life.”
Bowden’s arrival comes just less than a month after the couple revealed that their family and friends had been fooled by fake AI pictures of their baby, who hadn’t been born at the time they were posted online.
“I woke up this morning with loads of family and friends messaging me saying, ‘Oh, congrats on the news. I thought you’d tell us first before it was on the internet,” Sugg said in a video on Instagram.
“This is AI. Look – that’s not me. I don’t know who it is but that’s not me. That’s not my chin. It’s not my hair, unfortunately. That’s not Dianne, that’s not our baby – although I do hope he’s that cute. He’s not here.”

Their son is now finally here – bringing some happy news for the Strictly community amid rumours of a mass cast cull ahead of the new series.
Buswell’s future on the show is yet to be confirmed, with the show’s longest-running female pro, Karen Hauer confirming her departure this weekend. Gorka Márquez, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas and Nadiya Bychkova are also rumoured to be on the way out.
Sugg and Buswell met on Strictly in 2018 after being paired together in the competition. They made it to the final but lost out on the Glitterball trophy to presenter Stacey Dooley and her now-partner Kevin Clifton.
