Man Charged After Allegedly Found Lurking Near John Ibrahim’s Sydney Home with Firebomb and Knives

A man has been apprehended and subsequently charged after allegedly being discovered lurking near the eastern Sydney residence of former nightclub mogul John Ibrahim, reportedly in possession of a firebomb, knives, and with the alleged “intent” to cause harm.

The individual, identified as Troy William Buck, also known by the alias Troy Adam and believed to be from South Australia, was allegedly observed behaving erratically within a clifftop reserve adjacent to Ibrahim’s Dover Heights property on May 24th. Sources familiar with the ongoing investigation indicated this to the Herald.

The unusual behaviour prompted a concerned resident to contact the police. Upon arrival, authorities reportedly discovered Mr. Buck in possession of several knives and a Molotov cocktail.

Following an interaction with Mr. Buck, whom police believe to be experiencing homelessness, the 45-year-old was alleged to have harboured intentions of harming Mr. Ibrahim. When reached for comment by the Herald, Ibrahim himself reportedly quipped, “That’s all I need now, homeless people after me.”

Mr. Buck was taken into police custody and has been formally charged with several offences. These include possessing knives, explosives, and housebreaking implements in a public place. He also faces a charge of being armed with the intent to assault John Ibrahim.

He has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday morning to address the charges.

Broader Concerns Regarding Ibrahim’s Security

This incident adds to a concerning pattern of individuals allegedly targeting John Ibrahim’s home. In a separate, ongoing legal matter, two men are currently preparing for trial, accused of plotting to assassinate Ibrahim in July 2024.

The alleged plot reportedly involved the two men deliberately stopping traffic in Dover Heights during the busy school rush hour. During this alleged incident, they were reportedly brandishing a pistol and confronting a motorist. The pair are then said to have fled the scene in a stolen SUV before being apprehended by police. They have since been charged with conspiracy to murder and are expected to face trial in August.

Mr. Ibrahim has experienced other unsettling encounters at his residence in the past. In early 2019, a man named Butch Haouchar allegedly appeared at his home. Recordings captured at the time, reportedly posted online by Haouchar shortly before his arrest, showed him at Mr. Ibrahim’s doorbell, aggressively demanding money and identifying himself. Haouchar was later heard screaming manically before walking away. His case was subsequently dismissed on mental health grounds.

It is important to note that there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of John Ibrahim in relation to any of these incidents. The ongoing investigations and legal proceedings focus solely on the alleged actions of the individuals involved. The presence of such alleged threats underscores the complex security considerations surrounding high-profile individuals.
