“The real turning point for me was meeting Trevor Macy and Mike Flanagan about The Fall of the House of Usher,” Hamill recounted. “That made me excited about performing again because it was a character part that would’ve been routine in voiceover. In voiceover, they don’t care what you look like, so you’re going to play many roles you’d never get on camera. They cast with their ears, not their eyes.”
Reflecting on his extensive career, Hamill expressed a degree of surprise at his own enduring presence in the entertainment industry.
“When you’re in your 20s and 30s, it’s hard to think of yourself in your 50s and 60s,” he mused. “But I certainly didn’t think I’d be on camera as long as I’ve been.”

During the same interview, Hamill also addressed the burgeoning landscape of artificial intelligence and its potential impact on the film industry, particularly in relation to his most famous franchise. He was asked about a business alliance between Disney and OpenAI, which could pave the way for fan-generated AI scenes featuring Star Wars characters and settings.
“It’s fascinating to see it develop, and I’m also apprehensive about how it will be used,” Hamill admitted.
The actor, whose portrayal of Jedi savior Luke Skywalker in seminal films like Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983) cemented his place in cinematic history, expressed his astonishment at the rapid integration of AI into show business.
“The story of the AI-generated actress that got signed by a major agency is mind-boggling,” Hamill stated. “Is she going to stay 33, or whatever her age is, forever?”
Looking ahead, Hamill acknowledged the inherent unpredictability of the future. “It’s obviously hard to predict the future, but I guess I’m gonna have to talk to my family about if they want me to be in a Star Wars movie 30 years from now after I’m gone,” he concluded, hinting at the profound implications of AI for legacy and posthumous creative works.
