Sydney Photographer Hospitalised After Home Invasion By Celebrity Dentist; Attacker Fatally Shot By Police
A disturbing home invasion in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has left a photographer and mother-of-three hospitalised, requiring surgery for a broken nose. The alleged assailant, a well-known celebrity dentist, was later shot and killed by police following the incident.
The victim, Chloe Paul, was reportedly working from her Potts Point residence when Dr Steven Lin, 41, allegedly forced his way into her apartment. According to her family, Lin was demanding money from Paul during the terrifying ordeal.

Family members recounted that Lin allegedly pinned Paul to the floor, assaulting her and attempting to choke her. However, Paul’s background in boxing proved instrumental, allowing her to break free from his grip and alert the authorities.
The incident didn’t end with Paul’s apartment. Police allege that Lin, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, also assaulted one of Paul’s neighbours in the building’s shared laundry area. His entry into the secure complex was reportedly gained by “tailgating” another car as it exited the premises.
Dr Steven Lin was a recognised figure in the dental community, authoring the book “The Dental Diet” and formerly owning two successful dental practices on the NSW Central Coast. He had also cultivated a significant online presence, amassing over 250,000 followers on Instagram where he shared health and wellness advice.
Police Confrontation and Fatal Shooting
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers encountered Lin. Eyewitness accounts and police statements indicate that Lin allegedly lunged at the officers armed with a knife. In response, a Taser was deployed.
Authorities claim the Taser was “ineffective” in subduing Lin, leading to a single round being fired by an officer. The 41-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A critical incident investigation has since been launched to thoroughly examine the actions of the police officers involved in the shooting.

It is understood that Lin may have barricaded himself inside one of the apartments during the approximately 10-minute confrontation. Reports suggest that he may not have known either of his alleged victims.
Troubling Background of the Attacker
Further details have emerged regarding Dr Lin’s past. In recent years, he reportedly faced legal proceedings for a series of offences involving women. These charges allegedly included stalking, assault, choking, and breaches of apprehended violence orders.

The attack and subsequent police shooting have sent shockwaves through the Potts Point community, raising questions about the perpetrator’s state of mind and the circumstances leading to the violent confrontation. Investigations are ongoing to piece together the full sequence of events.
