The Indonesian Women’s National Team is scheduled to compete again in the 2025 SEA Games, facing Vietnam in the semifinals. The Garuda Pertiwi squad is determined to make new history.
The Indonesian Women’s National Team has successfully reached the semifinals of the 2025 SEA Games. Garuda Pertiwi qualified after defeating Singapore with a score of 3-1 in the group stage, and earned the right to accompany host Thailand to the next round.
In the semifinals, according to the schedule, the Indonesian Women’s National Team will face Vietnam. The match is planned to take place at the IPE Chonburi Stadium on Sunday (14/12) afternoon at 4:00 PM WIB.
This became a historic match for the Indonesian Women’s National Team. Because for the first time, the Garuda Pertiwi, since 2001, they have managed to advance to the SEA Games semifinals.
However, Akira Higashiyama, the coach of the Indonesian Women’s National Team, is not yet satisfied. He wants to continue making history with Garuda Pertiwi. Therefore, he hopes the Indonesian Women’s National Team will win against Vietnam.
“We came here to make history,” said Akira, quoted from The Thao 247, Sunday (14/12).
“This is the first time the Indonesian Women’s National Team has reached the top four of the SEA Games. Facing the semifinal match, I feel confident and calm,” he added.
On the other hand, Akira realizes that Vietnam is not an easy opponent. The neighboring country’s team is quite strong and is a championship contender. However, this does not mean that Garuda Pertiwi has no chance of winning.
The Japanese coach promised to concoct his best strategy to surprise Vietnam. He hopes to win and qualify for the 2025 SEA Games final.
“Vietnam is a very strong opponent. They have won the SEA Games many times and are the main contenders for the championship. We will try our best in tomorrow’s match and achieve victory,” he explained.
The qualification of the Indonesian Women’s National Team to the semifinals is also proof that the Garuda Pertiwi (Indonesian Women’s National Team) deserves to be sent to the SEA Games. They are now also the only hope for the Red and White football contingent to bring home a medal.
Because the men’s football team, the Indonesian U-22 National Team, had to be eliminated in the group stage. This failure is a setback because the Young Garuda were the defending SEA Games champions.
