2026 Subaru Trailseeker: A New Electric SUV from Subaru
Subaru has launched the 2026 Trailseeker electric SUV in Australia, marking a significant step in the brand’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup. This model is the longer version of the Solterra and serves as the EV counterpart to the petrol-powered Outback. The Trailseeker is priced in line with the Tesla Model Y Long Range, offering a competitive option for Australian consumers.
Pricing and Specifications
The Trailseeker starts at $67,990 before on-road costs, which is $8,000 more than the Solterra it is based on. This price point positions it as a premium option in the electric SUV market. The vehicle features dual electric motors, one on each axle, providing all-wheel drive and a combined output of 280kW. This powertrain allows the Trailseeker to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The 2026 Trailseeker is equipped with a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed WLTP driving range of 533km for the entry-level AWD model and 488km for the top-spec AWD Touring. Both variants support 150kW DC fast charging, which can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.
Design and Features
The Trailseeker is built on the same platform as the Solterra but includes a longer rear overhang and a taller roofline, providing more rear-seat and boot space. The base model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Touring variant features 20-inch alloys.
Inside, the Trailseeker shares the Solterra’s 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also includes a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and ambient lighting. The flagship Touring model adds a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and 220-volt/1500-watt vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability for powering external devices. Additional features include automatic parking assist and two-tone upholstery.

Safety and Technology
The Trailseeker comes with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with lane centring, and speed sign recognition. These features ensure a high level of driver assistance and safety.

Pre-Order Availability
The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker is now available for pre-order on the brand’s website. With its combination of performance, range, and advanced technology, the Trailseeker is set to be a strong contender in the Australian EV market.
