A Unique Story from Karen Gillan
Karen Gillan, the renowned actress from Inverness, has shared an unusual tale about her recent appearance at a film festival. Known for her roles in popular movies like Jumanji and Guardians of the Galaxy, Gillan is no stranger to high-profile events. However, her recent experience was anything but typical.
During a recent trip to Austin, Texas, for the premiere of Over Your Dead Body, which she co-produced, Gillan found herself in an unexpected situation. As she was boarding the flight, her baby daughter, Clementine, who was born in 2024, became ill and vomited on both of them. With no spare clothes for her daughter, Gillan had to make an impromptu decision.
She used the top she was planning to wear the following night at the glamorous premiere as an improvised solution for her daughter. This meant that Gillan ended up wearing the same top while traveling, which had been used to wrap up her sick baby. Despite the messy situation, both mother and daughter were fine, with Clementine looking stylish throughout the ordeal.

Gillan humorously shared her experience with other mothers, saying, “To all the mothers wearing vomit today, my thoughts are with you.” Her story highlights the challenges that come with being a parent, especially when juggling professional commitments.
A New Role in the World of Whisky
In addition to her acting career, Gillan has recently taken on a new role as the face of a historic Scotch whisky. She has become the Muse for artist Emma Hack, known for her work on one of the most viewed music videos of all time, Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know.
Hack was invited to create a label for a limited edition of the whisky Hedonism. Produced by Compass Box, this collaboration marks another milestone in Gillan’s career. She described the experience as deeply personal, stating, “To be considered a muse for this whisky and to be a part of its story is deeply personal to me.”
Gillan added, “Sharing whisky and stories are some of the best times of my life. There’s no wilder sensation than seeing yourself on a whisky bottle.” Her involvement with Hedonism reflects her growing influence beyond the entertainment industry.
The Legacy of Hedonism
The Hedonism whisky was first released in 2000 and holds a special place in the world of Scotch. It was the first blended grain Scotch whisky ever created, making it a unique and historic product. Its release marked a significant moment in the whisky industry, and now, with Gillan’s involvement, it continues to evolve.
As a celebrated actress and a new face of a legendary whisky, Gillan’s journey showcases her versatility and the many facets of her career. From Hollywood to the world of spirits, she continues to make an impact in different ways.
Her story serves as a reminder that even in the most polished and glamorous settings, real-life challenges can arise. Yet, with grace and humor, these moments can become memorable experiences that connect people in unexpected ways.
