Christina Applegate, the 54-year-old actress known for her role in Dead to Me, has opened up about the daily reality of living with multiple sclerosis (MS). In a recent appearance on the Wild Card With Rachel Martin podcast, she shared how the disease has reshaped her perspective on life and the future.
“I think about my death every day,” she said. “It’s looming. I mean, it looms for all of us. But for people who have a disease like this, you never know.”
Her candid admission highlights the uncertainty that comes with MS, a chronic autoimmune condition that affects the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Since being diagnosed in 2021, Applegate has faced challenges such as pain, fatigue, and a loss of mobility. “I bought my plots already,” she said. “There’s going to be three of us there.” She described the location as “really pretty” and even plans to have a picnic at the site.
“I have to pick my tree out because they’re going to plant a tree there,” she added. “I want my visitors to not be sweating.”
She also mentioned that the decision was partly about easing the burden on her loved ones. “Just buy it now. That way, nobody has to deal with it.”
Applegate’s reflections on death and dying are part of a broader conversation about how she wants to be remembered. She spoke about the importance of choosing the right place for her final resting spot, saying she had been thinking about it for a long time before finally making the purchase.
