Alison Hammond Radiates Happiness, Opens Up About “Being in Love” with Younger Boyfriend
Beloved television presenter Alison Hammond has candidly shared her joy and deep affection for her boyfriend, David Putman. The 50-year-old star admitted to “being in love” with the 28-year-old Russian masseur and model, shedding light on their burgeoning romance, their Christmas plans, and why the significant age gap between them is a non-issue.
Alison’s journey with David began in 2023 when she booked a massage with him. Their relationship blossomed, and they made their romance public in April 2024, with Alison frequently sharing loving snapshots of them together on her Instagram page. The couple later made their red carpet debut, attending a Candy Kittens event alongside Alison’s 20-year-old son, Aidan.
Addressing the 22-year age difference between herself and David, Alison revealed that it poses no obstacle. She described David as “incredibly mature and sensible,” a stark contrast to her own admission of being “not” as such. “Things are going really, really well,” she gushed in a recent interview. “He just has the most beautiful energy and everyone feels it when they’re in his presence. It’s very rare. I am so grateful that he chooses to spend his life with me.”
The feeling of being in love, Alison explained, is “lovely.” She elaborated, “It makes you more patient, it makes you kinder, because you’ve always got somebody you want to care for — and they’re caring for you.”
When questioned about the possibility of marriage, Alison indicated that there are no immediate wedding plans. She feels they “don’t need to” formalise their commitment, as their current situation makes them “happy the way it is.” This sentiment aligns with her belief that “a ring” is not necessary to signify her love for someone. However, she did offer a tantalising hint, suggesting that if David were to propose tomorrow, her answer “wouldn’t be a no.”
This year, Alison, known for her extravagant Christmas celebrations, intends to keep things simple. Her ideal festive season involves a quiet meal at a “fancy restaurant” with David and her son Aidan.
Previously, in an interview with Good Housekeeping UK for its January issue, Alison had spoken about how she and David “fit like a jigsaw,” with their contrasting traits creating a harmonious balance. She acknowledged that the 22-year age gap might be noticeable “on paper,” but stressed that it doesn’t reflect the reality of their relationship. “When we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all,” she stated.
“Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand,” Alison continued. “People have said to me: ‘We get it now.’ He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me…they’re just so lovely. It’s like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together.”
Beyond her romantic life, Alison also touched upon her deeply loving relationship with her son, Aidan. She recently apologised to him for “not always being there,” acknowledging the sacrifices he may have made. “If you could feel the way my son loves me, it’s magical,” she expressed. “He’s grown into such a gentleman. He helps me so much, doing things around the house. He gives really good advice and because he’s Gen Z, he has his finger on the pulse and tells me what’s cool.”
Describing their dynamic, Alison said, “He’s the yin to my yang; he’s like me, but a calmer version. I’m all, ‘Woo-hoo’ and he’s more, ‘Mum, chill.’ He doesn’t try to rein me in, though.” She playfully added, “He wouldn’t try to change me because, well, why mess with perfection?”
