Dalaroo Metals Strikes Gold in Côte d’Ivoire: Promising Early Results from Bondoukou Project
Dalaroo Metals (ASX:DAL) is making significant waves in the West African gold scene, having unveiled highly encouraging, high-grade gold rock chip samples from its inaugural on-the-ground assessment of the Bondoukou project in Côte d’Ivoire. This development follows closely on the heels of the company securing an 80% stake in the project through a binding agreement with Goldridge Resources, finalised in late February.
The initial due diligence work has already yielded impressive assay results, with some samples returning grades as high as 17.95 grams per tonne of gold. This early success has clearly bolstered the confidence of Dalaroo’s leadership, who see Bondoukou as a prime opportunity to tap into a highly prospective gold project situated within the renowned Birimian greenstone belt of West Africa.
John Morgan, CEO of Dalaroo Metals, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “These initial sampling results provide encouraging confirmation of high-grade gold mineralisation within quartz reef material exposed in the extensive artisanal workings at Bondoukou.” He elaborated on the significance of these findings, noting that the early-stage field work has successfully identified widespread artisanal workings across the northern section of the licence. This discovery is invaluable, offering crucial geological guidance that will shape Dalaroo’s more advanced exploration programs.
“These often represent the surface expression of structurally controlled gold systems that have potential to extend along strike and at depth,” Mr Morgan explained, highlighting the potential for substantial mineralisation.
The company’s immediate strategic focus is squarely on undertaking detailed geological mapping and comprehensive geochemical sampling. The primary objective of these efforts is to gain a deeper understanding of the structural controls and the overall scale of the mineralised system. Mr Morgan emphasised the critical role these programs will play in identifying and prioritising targets for the company’s maiden drilling phase at Bondoukou.
Dalaroo has now deployed its dedicated exploration team to Africa. Their mission is to conduct systematic early-stage exploration activities, all geared towards defining robust drill targets. The current workstream is multifaceted and includes:
- Detailed Geological Mapping: Covering the entire northern licence area to build a comprehensive understanding of the geological framework.
- Rock Chip and Geochemical Sampling: A systematic approach to collect samples and analyse their elemental composition, aiming to identify gold anomalism.
- Structural Interpretation of Artisanal Workings: Analysing the patterns and characteristics of existing artisanal mining sites to infer the underlying geological structures controlling mineralisation.
- Target Generation for Initial Drill Programs: Consolidating all gathered data to pinpoint the most promising areas for subsequent drilling campaigns.
Frank Twum-Berima Bosompem, Dalaroo’s Country and Exploration Manager for Côte d’Ivoire, underscored the geological significance of the Bondoukou project’s location. He pointed out that the Birimian gold belt, within which Bondoukou is nestled, is a well-established geological province that hosts numerous significant gold deposits.
“These initial sampling results confirm the presence of gold within quartz reef systems exposed in the workings and provide important geological guidance for our ongoing exploration programs,” Mr Bosompem stated. He further commented on the preliminary nature of the sampling, acknowledging that while it is reconnaissance in character, the high-grade assays received to date are highly encouraging. These results strongly support the company’s interpretation of a structurally controlled mineralised system operating within the project area.
The company’s stock, DAL, was trading at 5.9 cents per share heading into the trading week.
