The Turbulent Journey of Bec and Danny on MAFS 2026
Bec and Danny’s relationship on Married At First Sight Australia 2026 was anything but smooth. From the very beginning, their journey was marked by challenges, misunderstandings, and emotional turmoil. It came as no surprise to viewers when Danny decided to end their relationship at the final vows. For Bec, this decision was a complete “blindside,” leaving her heartbroken and struggling to process what had just happened.
The Unseen Version of Danny
Throughout the series, MAFS viewers were treated to several unseen moments of Danny. One of the most shocking was his final interview during the Commitment Ceremony reunion, which he refused to attend. In this video, Danny made a bold statement about his future without Bec. “The future without Bec would be bright,” he told producers. “After this, there’s going to be women queuing up for me. I won’t be able to walk down the street, they’ll be throwing their pantiehoes at me. So, either way, it’s going to be alright.”
Bec watched this video alone on the couch, reflecting on the past three months with Danny. Later, she joined Rachel and Steven on MAFS: After The Dinner Party, where hosts Brittany Hockley, Laura Byrne, and Jules Lund played unseen footage of Danny. In one clip, Danny made a scathing comment about Bec. “You’re telling me, that’s the best you could bring me? You oughta be ashamed of yourself,” he said. “I could walk into Coles and get a better bird than that. I gave up my life to be here and I got a f*g cushy little life. I gave up my life to be here and I could roll in Coles right now, walk up to aisle four, there’s a bird in there, and she’d be better than Bec. There can’t be no worse… bring me better women!”
“You can do that if you’re a 15 out of 10, and she’s not.”
According to Bec, after this interview, Danny confessed he was falling in love with her. However, this admission did little to ease the tension between them.
Dinner Party Reunion
Flying back to Sydney for the Dinner Party reunion, Bec met former participant Steph at the airport. Here, she discovered that Steph had reached out to her ex-husband just ten days after Danny ended things with her. Given that Steph and Danny had only interacted once, Bec was confused about why they were texting at all. The following day, Steph allowed Bec to read their text messages together when bikini pictures were discovered.
“When I couldn’t get out of bed, because I was so hysterical, Steph was on the phone to me. ‘Babe, he’s an idiot, he’s a loser. Get up’,” Bec recalled. “Then, a week later, [Steph] dropped off the face of the earth but your messaging my ex-husband.”
Walking away from the table in tears, Bec shared to producers, “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to go on, but I love him and I didn’t think that this was going to happen… I don’t hate him. I love him.”
For Danny, his ex-wife’s behaviour was confirmation that walking away was the right decision. “She is not wife material, she has a long way to go,” he said.
Final Vows
While Bec’s final vows concluded with her visions of their future and a final “I love you,” Danny’s ended with an apology. “Stepping away from the experiment in the last week, I really thought about how I felt having space on my own again. As much as it breaks my heart to say this, I felt a weight come off my shoulders,” Danny shared. “Particularly at a time where I knew I should have been missing you. I believe you can have multiple soul mates in life, some who are your best friends and some who are your lovers. Bec, I believe you’re my soulmate as a friend but I’ve come to realise there’s doubt in my mind that if you are my soulmate as a lover. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry to do this to you, but I can’t be your husband anymore,” he concluded.
Bec, feeling “shocked” by his admission, walked away to cry in private.
Speaking with nine.com.au, Bec recalled the days following their split. “I flew home that same day because I couldn’t be in Sydney anymore, and I didn’t get out of my bed for five days,” she said. “I lay in bed and I didn’t eat. I just slept and cried. It was truly one of the most horrific things I think that’s ever happened to me.”

The ‘I Love You’ Bombshell
During a commitment ceremony, Bec confessed her love to Danny – in front of everyone. A moment that not only shocked viewers but also left Danny stunned. “It put me on the spot a little bit,” Danny told producers, after he didn’t repeat those words to his wife. “I don’t feel like you should tell someone you love them unless you truly mean it. Love’s a massive thing, and it’s a word that shouldn’t be chucked around loosely. She could tell me 10,000 times, if I don’t feel it I’m not going to say it back.”
Days after, Danny spoke to the Daily Mail revealing there were no “hints” that Bec would say “I love you.” “Normally when a girl tells you they love you, they give you like breadcrumbs beforehand,” Danny said. “She didn’t allude to it. She didn’t give me hints. Then it just came out of nowhere.”
The Couples Retreat
The annual Couples Retreat is one of the most anticipated events on MAFS, and it quickly turned disastrous. Bec’s choice of language to describe Rachel and Steven’s physical intimacy certainly stirred the pot. “I just wanted to call us here tonight, it’s the first night of retreat and we’ve had ‘I love you’s’, we’ve had a couple that I thought could not come back from the brink of hell, and we’ve had finger bangs,” Bec said, referring to Stella and Filip, Juliette and Joel, and lastly, Rachel and Steven respectively.
A major divide then rocked the MAFS group, with Danny and Bec on the outs. What viewers didn’t see was Bec laying “in the room crying for two days,” Danny shared to nine.com.au. “Watching her, it was depressing to me. I shouldn’t be hanging out with the group and I wasn’t going to leave Bec alone like that,” Danny said, noting he “was on the verge of leaving the experiment.” “She put on a brave face in front of the cameras, but any time the cameras stopped rolling she’d be in the room just crying.”

Intimacy Woes
After being intimate on their honeymoon, Danny confessed he didn’t feel any sexual chemistry with his wife. Later, he awkwardly put Bec in the friendship zone. Unfortunately for the couple, intimacy – or lack thereof – was a hot topic at the first Dinner Party. Prior to entering, Danny told MAFS producers their chemistry was a measly 3 out of 10.
Bec slammed his rating on 2Day Breakfast with Nath & Emma, noting he was “shocking in bed.” “Look, at the beginning, I would give him a solid 3 as well, but you’ll just have to wait and see,” she said.

Despite this rocky start, their romantic connection grew after a date night away from the cameras. Intimacy Week saw the couple take a huge step in their relationship. “Danny uses humour as a defence mechanism and today I want to bring his walls down,” Bec shared before their night of intimacy began, which started with the couple painting the other with words that came to mind when thinking about their partner.
“It actually made me feel a bit emotional,” Danny admitted. “I find it a bit hard to put into words but the intimacy of it was a beautiful experience.”
