Iconic 1980s new wave legends Duran Duran are set to embark on a significant UK and European arena tour this autumn, promising to reignite the passion of fans across the continent. The tour will feature the band’s enduring frontman Simon Le Bon and his fellow bandmates gracing stages in a string of key cities, delivering their timeless hits to adoring crowds.
The highly anticipated tour kicks off on 15 October at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. From there, the band will travel to Belfast for a performance at the SSE Arena on 18 October. The following date is scheduled for Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on 20 October. Fans in Liverpool can catch the band at the M&S Bank Arena on 23 October, before the UK leg of the tour concludes at Leeds’ First Direct Arena on 24 October. Indie band Pigeon is slated to join Duran Duran as special guests for the entire UK run.
This extensive tour announcement comes hot on the heels of a productive period for the band. In April, they released a brand-new single, “Free To Love,” a collaboration that featured the legendary Nile Rodgers of Chic. Looking ahead, Duran Duran are also preparing to headline London’s prestigious British Summer Time (BST) festival on 5 July. This major festival performance will see them joined on stage by the acclaimed Scissor Sisters, adding another layer of excitement to their summer schedule.
Beyond the shores of the United Kingdom, Duran Duran will be extending their musical journey to several prominent European cities. Audiences in Oslo, Stockholm, Hamburg, Cologne, Brussels, and Paris can also look forward to experiencing the band live on stage.
A Legacy of Hits and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
The enduring quartet of Duran Duran comprises Simon Le Bon on vocals, Nick Rhodes on keyboards, John Taylor on bass guitar, and Roger Taylor on drums. Together, they have carved out an indelible legacy in the music industry, celebrated for a string of unforgettable hits. Their anthemic tracks like “Rio,” the globally recognised “Hungry Like The Wolf,” and the iconic James Bond theme song “A View To A Kill” have cemented their place in pop culture history.

With an impressive sales record exceeding 100 million records worldwide, Duran Duran’s influence is undeniable. Their achievements also include two UK number one singles and a chart-topping album. In recognition of their profound impact on music, the band was rightfully inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, a testament to their lasting appeal and artistic merit.
Simon Le Bon’s Journey from Student to Stage Icon
The story of Simon Le Bon’s involvement with Duran Duran is a classic tale of artistic dedication. He famously abandoned his university studies to pursue a career with the group after a successful audition in the early 1980s. This decision proved pivotal, as the band quickly became synonymous with the vibrant and stylish New Romantic music scene that defined an era.
Reflecting on his performing career after receiving a royal honour from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle in 2024, Le Bon shared his perspective on the essence of live performance with PA news agency. He articulated:
“It’s the most immediate and essential aspect of our job, getting up and singing a song or making some music in front of a crowd.
Whether it’s five people in the living room or around a campfire, or standing there in front of 30,000 people with their arms in the air, it’s essentially the same thing. It can feel very different.
I used to be a very nervous performer. I was terrified, and slowly I’ve been able to overcome that fear and I don’t get it anymore. I just walk out there and it feels natural to me.”

Le Bon’s candid admission highlights a relatable human experience of overcoming performance anxiety, transforming it into the confident stage presence that fans have come to expect from Duran Duran. His ability to connect with audiences, whether in intimate settings or at massive festivals, underscores the genuine passion that drives the band.
