Ex-GOP Strategist Warns of Upcoming Legal Troubles for Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski
Ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson has issued a warning to outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her chief of staff, Corey Lewandowski, suggesting that their legal troubles are only just beginning. During an appearance on MS NOW, Wilson highlighted the potential consequences of their actions, particularly regarding allegations of corruption and inappropriate conduct.
Noem was removed from her position as head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by President Donald Trump earlier this month. The decision came after growing frustrations within the administration over her leadership and the alleged affair between Noem and Lewandowski, who is also married. This scandal has sparked significant attention and criticism from various quarters.
Allegations of Corruption and Misuse of Public Funds
Wilson emphasized that Noem’s $200 million taxpayer-funded public relations campaign and Lewandowski’s alleged “pay-to-play” scheme are serious issues that could lead to severe repercussions. He stated that these actions were not only unethical but also indicative of a deeper problem within the administration.
“You saw Republicans going at Noem very hard in that last hearing before she was fired because there’s an understanding now that they were using this as a piggy bank, that Lewandowski was handing out contracts in a pay-to-play scheme – that is the understanding that is emerging every single day,” Wilson explained.
He further noted that both Noem and Lewandowski may face criminal charges if they do not receive pardons from Trump. “It’s totally on brand for Lewandowski and he is going to end up in the hot seat as well. And there’s a chance that Trump doesn’t pardon them and they will end up facing criminal charges.”
Potential Testimonies Before Congress
Wilson also suggested that both Noem and Lewandowski would likely be required to testify before Congress. For Noem, the fallout from her actions at DHS could continue to affect her for the rest of her life.
“And by the way, I’ve got bad news for both – they’re not going to get away from not testifying again, they’re going to be on the hot seat again,” he said. “Kristi Noem is going to spend the rest of her political life – probably the rest of her adult life – dealing with the fallout from the behavior she engaged in at DHS.”
Ongoing Investigations and Public Scrutiny
The situation surrounding Noem and Lewandowski has attracted significant media attention, with various reports highlighting their alleged misconduct. Recent investigations have included calls for a perjury investigation into Noem, as well as scrutiny over the use of taxpayer funds for personal purposes.
Some of the key developments include:
- The controversy surrounding Noem’s “mystery bag” that reportedly contributed to a midair meltdown.
- The removal of Lewandowski from his position at DHS by administration officials.
- The request for a perjury investigation into Noem by Pam Bondi.
- Analysis suggesting that Trump’s allegations against Noem could constitute a federal crime.
- Reports indicating that taxpayers’ money was used to turn Noem’s jet into a love nest.
These ongoing investigations and public scrutiny underscore the seriousness of the allegations against Noem and Lewandowski. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these issues will impact their political careers and the broader landscape of U.S. politics.
