Ivanka Trump Steps Back from Public Life to Prioritise Family and Private Ventures
Ivanka Trump, who recently faced a concerning alleged assassination plot, has shed light on her decision to step away from public service. After serving as a senior advisor to her father, Donald Trump, during his first presidential term, the First Daughter is now dedicating her time to family and pursuing private business interests.
Speaking on a podcast, Ivanka described her current phase of life as a “new section.” She acknowledged the immense intensity of public service, stating, “I know for me that the first time around, I could theoretically imagine [public service] would be intense. But now I know how intense it is.” She further emphasised that public service cannot be approached casually. “I know that you can’t dabble, and I know that my children really need me there for them,” she explained. “And I’m not willing to make them bear the sacrifice of serving again.”
During her father’s tenure, Ivanka Trump was instrumental in advocating for significant policy initiatives, including legislation aimed at combating human trafficking and developing paid family leave programs. Her focus has now shifted to driving change from within the private sector.
In 2023, she co-founded Planet Harvest, a for-profit organisation with her friend Melissa Ackerman. The organisation’s stated mission, as detailed on its website, is to “maximize the amount of fresh produce that moves from farms to families” by creating vital connections between farmers and retailers.

The personal cost of public service was starkly illustrated by recent headlines concerning Ivanka Trump. An alleged international terrorist was apprehended in Turkey following threats made against her life. The individual, identified as 32-year-old dual Iraqi-Iranian national Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi, reportedly sought retribution for the 2020 killing of Qasem Soleimani, a commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The strike that led to Soleimani’s death was authorised by President Trump in January 2020.
According to reports from the New York Post, in 2021, al-Saadi allegedly posted an image of a map detailing Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner’s $24 million residence, accompanied by a caption that ominously stated, “Our revenge is a matter of time.” The alleged terrorist now faces charges related to an extensive list of nearly 20 purported terror attacks across multiple countries. He has entered a plea of not guilty to these charges and is awaiting his next court hearing scheduled for September.

In contrast to his wife’s current focus on private life, Jared Kushner remains actively involved in public service. He has held official and unofficial roles within the Trump administration, including serving as a special peace envoy. In this capacity, he has been involved in negotiations concerning conflicts in Iran and Ukraine, undertaking visits to countries such as Pakistan and Russia alongside fellow envoy Steve Witkoff. Furthermore, Kushner, in collaboration with Witkoff, played a role in brokering the Israel-Hamas ceasefire last year and has been involved in efforts to de-escalate the ongoing tensions involving Iran.
Kushner’s extensive international dealings have drawn criticism, particularly given his reported financial connections to several Middle Eastern nations.
