.CO.ID, DELI SERDANG – The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) distributed aid in the form of 6.5 tons of rice, oil, and biscuit packages to 2,000 residents of Sunggal Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. This area is one of the regions most severely impacted by the floods.
Minister of Kominfo, Meutya Hafid, stated that Kominfo is providing various forms of assistance to residents affected by the Sumatra floods, including goods and facilities for information posts and psychosocial support.
“In addition to material aid, we also provide joint posts in the form of a media center and psychosocial service posts to restore the joy of children,” said Meutya while attending a grand zikir and prayer with flood-affected residents in Sunggal Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, Saturday (12/13/2025).
The event was also filled with a joint prayer led by Ustaz Maulana and attended by the community, religious leaders, and representatives of the local government. Meutya urged the community to continue to care for and strengthen each other.
“Every time there is a test, there is ease. Therefore, we must all help each other and pray for each other,” said Meutya.
As one of the regions that previously experienced connectivity disruptions due to flood disasters, communication access in North Sumatra Province has almost fully recovered.
As of Saturday (12/13/2025), 4,273 out of 4,368 BTS towers, or 97.8 percent, have resumed operations, enabling residents to access emergency information and communicate with family.
Meutya stated that network recovery is an urgent necessity in disaster situations. Kominfo ensures that communication services in flood-affected areas will continue to be monitored until conditions are completely stable.
“With the recovery reaching 97.8 percent, the people of North Sumatra can once again obtain important information and contact family,” said Meutya.
