Lady Gaga Cancels Montreal Concert Due to Illness
Lady Gaga has made the difficult decision to cancel her concert in Montreal, just three hours before she was scheduled to take the stage. The Grammy-winning singer, 40, took to her Instagram Story to explain that she is “unable to perform” due to a worsening respiratory infection. She revealed that her doctor strongly advised her against performing, as her condition has become more severe.
In her post, Lady Gaga expressed her deep disappointment and apologized to her fans. She said she was “absolutely heartbroken” that she would not be able to take the stage until she recovered. At the time of publication, she had not yet provided any details about rescheduling the show or addressing refunds for concertgoers.
Lady Gaga is currently on her Mayhem Ball Tour, which is supporting her sixth solo studio album, Mayhem. The album was released in March 2025 and earned her a Grammy earlier this year for Best Pop Vocal Album. The tour kicked off in July 2025 and will conclude with an 86-show journey next week.
A Magical Experience in Montreal
The Montreal concert was set to be the third performance in the city, following shows on Thursday and Friday. Lady Gaga described the experience of performing in Montreal as “magical and deeply meaningful.” She expressed her regret for letting her fans down and emphasized how much she values their support.
“I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down,” she wrote. “I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me.”
She concluded her message by reiterating her heartfelt apologies to those who were planning to attend the concert. “To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”
A History of Cancellations and Rescheduling
This is not the first time Lady Gaga has had to cancel a show. In September 2025, she postponed a concert in Miami due to vocal strain. She canceled the event just minutes before it was set to begin and stated that she would reschedule the concert “as quickly as possible.”
At the time, she explained that her voice was “extremely strained” and that she did not want to risk long-term or permanent damage to her vocal cords. Her doctor and vocal coach both advised against performing that night.
In a social media statement, she shared a lengthy message with her fans, expressing her regret and explaining the risks involved. “Even though this was a hard and agonizing decision, I would be more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice,” she wrote.
Upcoming Shows and Tour Schedule
Following the Montreal cancellation, Lady Gaga is set to perform at two shows in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Thursday and Friday. She will then wrap up her tour in New York City next Monday.
Throughout her tour, she has traveled across the United States, Europe, and Australia. After a holiday break, she resumed her tour with performances in Asia, starting in Japan at the beginning of the year. She also made a surprise appearance during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance in February.
