A Timeless Presence on and Off the Screen
Susan Lucci, a name synonymous with glamour and resilience, made a stunning appearance at the taping of The Drew Barrymore Show in New York City. At 79, the legendary star of All My Children turned heads with her elegant yet effortless style. Her outfit was a masterclass in simplicity and sophistication, featuring a pair of leggings paired with a bright yellow top that flowed gracefully around her waist.
To elevate her look, Lucci opted for a pair of designer stilettos from Christian Dior, adding a touch of high fashion to her ensemble. She completed the outfit with a grey Birkin handbag and oversized sunglasses, exuding timeless elegance. Given the chilly weather, she wrapped herself in an oversized Moncler puffer jacket, which is estimated to cost around $3,600.
Lucci’s next big project is the Apple TV+ film Outcome, a black comedy written and directed by Jonah Hill. The film follows an actor who is caught in a web of blackmail while trying to maintain his sobriety. Alongside Lucci, the cast includes Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and David Spade. After appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lucci made a striking appearance at the Outcome premiere in a strapless blue gown that hugged her figure and featured pink floral details.
Earlier this year, Lucci opened up about the emotional challenges she continues to face after the loss of her husband, Helmut Huber. The couple had been married for 52 years, and Huber passed away in 2022 at the age of 84, just one month after suffering a stroke. Lucci described feeling “completely lost” and “so alone” after his death, and admitted that the pain still hits her in waves.
Despite the heartache, Lucci reflects on the beautiful life she and Huber built together. They had two children—daughter Liza, 50, and son Andreas, 45—and Lucci describes their life as “such a gift.” However, certain moments remain difficult, particularly during holidays when the absence of her husband is impossible to ignore. “I don’t fight it,” she said. “I’m surprised sometimes by it. Certainly there are things like the holidays that are triggers—someone who should be sitting at the table. But I just go with it.”
When asked what she misses most about her late husband, Lucci said, “Everything.” She added, “It’s hard to say one thing. I just miss him, miss his presence, miss sharing things together, like coffee in the morning.”
The couple met while working at a hotel and got engaged after just three weeks of dating. They married in September 1969. Huber played a significant role in Lucci’s career, acting as her manager and serving as CEO of their production company, Pine Valley Productions, named after the fictional town in All My Children. Lucci portrayed the iconic character Erica Kane from 1970 until the show ended in 2011. She has also appeared in other notable roles, including Dallas, Hot in Cleveland, and Devious Maids.
