Married At First Sight participant Luke Fourniotis was recently observed enjoying a moment of downtime between the demanding filming schedules of the popular Channel Nine reality show in Sydney. The Victorian farmer was seen exuding a casual, laid-back demeanour as he made his way to the gym.
Dressed in a simple grey T-shirt, off-white shorts, and a flannel shirt casually slung over his shoulders, Luke, 30, appeared every bit the down-to-earth individual. The daily gym sessions are reportedly a crucial coping mechanism for him, helping to alleviate the significant pressure that comes with participating in the highly publicised television series.
This sighting of Luke comes at a time when the show’s cast is navigating some significant personal news from their fellow participants. Notably, Luke has recently commented on the surprising announcement that his co-star, Brook Crompton, is expecting a child with her former partner.
Brook Crompton’s Pregnancy and Luke’s Observations
Brook, a 27-year-old model, revealed her pregnancy earlier this week. Luke, who is partnered with Melissa Akbay on the show, shared his thoughts on the situation, suggesting that there might have been subtle indicators of Brook’s pregnancy even during the filming period.
While Luke maintains that he was unaware of Brook’s condition at the time, he admitted in an interview that, in hindsight, he can now identify certain clues that may have pointed towards her pregnancy.
“I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt and say no, but I don’t know,” Luke candidly shared on 2Day Breakfast with Nathan Roye & Emma Chow. He elaborated on the timeline, noting that the period between the end of filming and the current announcements was not extensive. “We wrapped MAFS in October, maybe,” he estimated. He also made a particular observation about the noticeable size of Brook’s baby bump.
Luke further recalled instances where Brook would frequently step away from the set, citing feelings of unwellness. “She did need some air, yeah maybe it might have been morning sickness,” he theorised, though he quickly added that he was “having a joke.” This sentiment highlights the speculative nature of observations made during the intense filming environment.
Chris Nield Addresses Brook’s Relationship Developments
The news of Brook’s pregnancy also coincides with further revelations about her personal life, specifically her rekindled relationship with her ex-boyfriend. This development has also drawn comments from her on-screen husband, Chris Nield.
Chris, a 31-year-old Australian footballer and construction supervisor, who was paired with Brook on the show, has spoken out about the situation. He described an unfiltered conversation where he attempted to process the unexpected turn of events that has left viewers and cast members alike in a state of shock.
While Chris has stated that he harbours “no ill wishes” towards Brook, he acknowledged that the underlying signs of her emotional availability were present from the outset of their on-screen marriage.
The relationship scandal initially surfaced last week when it was reported that Brook had quietly reconnected with her ex, Harry.
Footage that emerged showed Brook and Harry engaging in affectionate behaviour, including kissing and cuddling while decorating a Christmas tree. This occurred in October, just a few weeks after her on-screen union with Chris had reportedly dissolved off-camera.
This evidence seemed to confirm the whispers and suspicions that had allegedly been circulating amongst those on set. Chris has now made it clear that he believes Brook was not fully prepared or emotionally available for a new relationship when the show began.
“I just don’t think she was in the right place for a new relationship to form,” Chris stated, reflecting on the situation as far back as November. He further elaborated on his feelings, saying, “Obviously finding out during the show that she’d slept with her ex two days before we actually got married… looking at it now, I’m just feeling like if she was doing that, she wasn’t ready.” These comments shed light on the complexities and emotional toll that participating in a show like Married At First Sight can have on individuals.
