OMG Group Expands Matcha Presence with New Distributor
OMG Group has taken a significant step in its expansion into the matcha market by appointing Food & Dairy Co (FDC) as the first official non-exclusive distributor of its Ōmura Matcha and Matcha Mode brands. This strategic move aims to target food service channels across New South Wales and Queensland, where FDC has an extensive network of over 2,000 cafes and restaurants.
The partnership builds on an existing long-term relationship between OMG Group and FDC, which has previously distributed OMG’s Oat Milk Goodness. This new role marks a natural progression for FDC, allowing it to expand its offerings and support OMG’s growing presence in the hospitality sector.
Dual-Brand Strategy for Broader Market Reach
OMG Group has adopted a dual-brand strategy for its matcha products, ensuring it can cater to both premium and mass-market segments. Ōmura Matcha is positioned as a premium offering, targeting ceremonial-grade matcha customers in specialty cafes, hospitality, and wellness channels. On the other hand, Matcha Mode is designed for the entry-level and mass-market segment, providing accessible and everyday matcha products.
This approach allows OMG to address the full spectrum of food service demand through a single distributor relationship, enhancing its ability to meet diverse customer needs.
Strengthening the Distribution Network
FDC’s role as a distributor has been instrumental in supporting OMG’s growth. The company’s purchases of Oat Milk Goodness have seen a significant increase, rising by approximately 170% in the three months to December 2025 compared to the previous corresponding period. This growth reflects the increasing demand for high-quality, innovative products within the hospitality sector.

The partnership between OMG Group and FDC has evolved over time, with both companies working closely to develop new products and distribution strategies. This collaboration has laid the foundation for FDC’s new role as the first official matcha distributor, further strengthening their relationship.
From Oat Milk to Matcha: A Growing Partnership
The relationship between FDC and OMG Group dates back to a coffee meeting with Australian cricket legend Steve Smith, who co-founded Oat Milk Goodness. The product was later acquired by OMG Group in 2024, marking the beginning of a successful partnership.
Brenton Barker, CEO of FDC, highlighted the importance of this relationship, stating that it began with a simple coffee meeting in 2020. “The relationship has gone from strength to strength ever since,” he said. “We’ve watched the company continue to grow and innovate, and the quality and vision behind the Ōmura and Matcha Mode brands is exactly what our café and restaurant customers are looking for.”
Momentum in the Food Service Sector
OMG Group CEO Alex Aleksic emphasized the momentum behind the company’s products in the food service sector. The growth in FDC’s Oat Milk Goodness purchases highlights the strong demand for OMG’s offerings. “Securing FDC as our first official matcha distributor is an important milestone in the commercial rollout of our matcha platform,” Aleksic said.
He added that FDC’s network reach across NSW and QLD provides access to an immediate, high-quality route to market across more than 2,000 venues. Additionally, several other existing distributors have already expressed interest in adopting OMG’s matcha lines, indicating confidence in the broader rollout of the platform.
Looking Ahead
With an established distributor onboard and growing interest from other partners, OMG Group is moving quickly to scale its matcha offering across the food service market. This strategic expansion positions the company to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality, innovative products in the hospitality sector.
As the matcha market continues to grow, OMG Group’s dual-brand strategy and strong distribution partnerships will play a crucial role in its success. The company is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of consumers and businesses alike, ensuring continued growth and innovation in the years to come.
