New Generation Arrives as Jon English’s Legacy Continues
The English family is celebrating a joyous new arrival, just as they prepare to mark a poignant milestone. Harrison James English has been born to Jon English’s eldest son, Jonathan English, and his wife, country singer Christie Lamb. This precious new addition arrives as the family gears up to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the passing of the beloved music, stage, and television icon, Jon English.
Harrison’s birth brings a new spark of life and a tangible continuation of Jon English’s vibrant legacy. His parents, Jonathan and Christie, are understandably thrilled, though they share a profound regret.
“It’s our biggest regret that Jon isn’t here to meet his grandchildren,” Jonathan shared, his voice tinged with emotion. Christie echoed this sentiment, adding, “We know he would have absolutely adored them.”
A Little Rock Star’s Grand Entrance
Harrison James English made his debut on February 1st at Sydney’s Campbelltown Hospital. While described as “very sweet” by his mother, his arrival was not without its drama. Christie, 33, recounted a challenging birth, explaining, “Harrison decided to come early, so there were a few complications.”
The country singer was ultimately required to deliver her son via an emergency caesarean section due to concerns of uterine rupture. This unexpected turn contrasts with the birth of their first child, daughter Charlotte.
“Luckily, he wasn’t in such a rush as his big sister Charlotte,” Christie explained with a smile. “She arrived 18 days early and sent me into labour on stage in the middle of a gig!”

The couple, who reside in Cobbitty, South West Sydney, were delighted to welcome New Idea to meet the newest member of the English clan. It’s clear from the adoring glances that Harrison has already captured the hearts of his parents and his older sister, Charlotte.
Christie, a Golden Guitar award winner who has previously toured with Lee Kernaghan, humourously commented on the eventful nature of her children’s births. “These kids are rock’n’roll!” she exclaimed. “But I think I’m done now. I’m all drama-ed out.”
Honouring a Legend: The 10-Year Anniversary
The birth of Harrison comes at a particularly significant time for the family, as they approach the 10-year anniversary of Jon English’s death. The charismatic entertainer, known for his gravelly voice and boundless energy, passed away on March 9, 2016, just shy of his 67th birthday. His death followed complications from surgery for an aortic aneurysm.
Despite the decade that has passed, Jon English’s larger-than-life personality and enduring talent remain vividly present for his son and daughter-in-law. Jonathan, 44, a talented multi-instrumentalist, reflected on the passage of time.
“I can’t believe Dad’s been gone for 10 years, if I’m honest,” he admitted. “It’s one of those things, especially having children in the interim, that seems a lifetime ago, but also like yesterday.”
Preserving a Musical Treasure Trove
In the years since Jon’s passing, Jonathan has undertaken a monumental task: meticulously sourcing and compiling his father’s entire music catalogue. This ambitious project has been a labour of love, involving the preservation of old reel-to-reel tapes, vinyl records, and cassettes that were in danger of degrading.
“It was a labour of love, a lot of time and financial investment to collect my dad’s entire library,” Jonathan explained. “Hidden among the tapes were some unreleased gems and demos even my three siblings and I had never heard before.”
His dedication has been driven by a clear purpose: to complete his father’s legacy and make his music accessible to fans.

Jon English’s Cause of Death
The beloved entertainer, Jon English, sadly passed away on March 9, 2016. This date was just 17 days before what would have been his 67th birthday. His death was attributed to complications arising from surgery to address an aortic aneurysm.
A Musical Legacy Reimagined
Jonathan’s tireless efforts have culminated in the release of three significant, commemorative Jon English albums:
- Rarities: A collection of previously unheard or difficult-to-find tracks.
- Jokers and Queens: A repackaged and enhanced edition of this classic album.
- Six Ribbons – The Ultimate Collection: A comprehensive compilation showcasing the breadth of his career.
These releases are not just about preserving the past; they are about ensuring Jon’s music continues to resonate with new and existing audiences.

Jonathan also spoke about the personal connection he maintains with his father’s work and memory. “I’ve been looking after his work, but it’s also important I stay in touch with the guy who was my dad as well,” he confided. “I’ve been trying to do my best impression of him for Charlotte and Harrison, all the silly voices. If he were here today, it would be chaos. Dad was a big kid himself, always fun.”
The Next Generation of Performers
It appears that three-year-old Charlotte is already embracing the creative spirit of her family. “She’s full of personality and energy, that’s for sure,” Christie shared enthusiastically. “She got her own little mic for Christmas, with flashing lights, and she sings a lot of show songs.”

The arrival of Harrison James English marks a new chapter for the family, intertwining the joy of new life with the enduring tribute to a cherished artist. Jon English’s music and memory continue to live on, not only through his extensive catalogue but also through the growing family he left behind.
