A Disturbing Case of Exploitation and Abuse
A couple from Oklahoma City has been charged with serious criminal offenses after allegedly abusing a 14-year-old girl and forcing her to become pregnant. Nathan Potier, 36, and his girlfriend Erica Palmer, 36, were arrested in Nevada earlier this week, marking the end of a multi-state investigation that has shocked authorities.
Potier is facing charges of sexual assault of a child, while Palmer is accused of enabling the abuse. According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the case involved the exploitation of the teenager as a surrogate, with the abuse spanning multiple states. The situation came to light in December when Child Protective Services became aware of the teen’s pregnancy with twins, according to court documents obtained by KFOR.
The investigation revealed that Potier is alleged to be the father of the unborn children. Palmer reportedly admitted to police that she wanted to have children with her boyfriend but was unable to conceive due to a tied fallopian tube, as reported by KFOR. This admission played a key role in the ongoing investigation.
Detectives obtained a search warrant to collect Potier’s DNA during one of the teen’s medical appointments to confirm paternity. However, before this could happen, both Potier and Palmer left the state, according to authorities. The decision to flee led to an extensive search by law enforcement.
Coordinated Law Enforcement Efforts
Investigators followed multiple leads before eventually locating the couple and launching a coordinated operation to take them into custody. On March 17, 2026, members of the United States Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force arrested the couple in Sparks, Nevada.
“The arrest resulted from an ongoing investigation conducted by members of the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), who are also members of the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force in partnership with the United States Marshals Service and the Nevada Department of Public Safety,” authorities stated in a release.
After their arrest, Potier and Palmer were transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility and will be extradited to Oklahoma County to face the charges against them. Authorities emphasized the importance of such joint operations in ensuring that individuals attempting to evade detection are held accountable.
The Teen’s Current Situation
The 14-year-old girl is now in foster care, as reported by Fox12. Her well-being remains a central concern for the authorities and child protection services involved in the case. The incident highlights the vulnerability of minors in situations where they are placed under the care of individuals who may not have their best interests at heart.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance in protecting children from exploitation and abuse. It also underscores the critical role of law enforcement and child protective services in identifying and responding to such cases.
