Alexandra Grant, the longtime partner of beloved actor Keanu Reeves, has opened up about their relationship, describing Reeves as “easy to love.” Her heartfelt admission came during an interview at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles at the 2026 MOCA Gala. When directly asked about the ease of loving Reeves, Grant responded with an emphatic “Yes!”
Grant’s Artful Evolution
Grant, a visual artist herself, believes her creative work has been positively influenced by her relationship with Reeves, whom she has known since 2009. “I would say that all painting is autobiographical,” she explained, noting that even abstract pieces can carry a narrative. “I would definitely say that my paintings become happier,” she confessed. “It’s undeniable. I have to admit that.”

While Grant feels a clear artistic evolution, Reeves, the star of the John Wick and Matrix franchises, remains more circumspect about whether their relationship has impacted his acting. “I don’t know if it has,” he admitted at the gala.
Navigating Work and Personal Lives
This isn’t the first time Grant has shared insights into their romance. Earlier in the week, at the launch event for her new wine brand, LOVE Wine, L.A., she discussed how she and Reeves manage to maintain boundaries between their professional endeavours and personal lives.
“Every project has its own autonomy, its own team, it has its own sort of rules, and it has a beginning, middle and end,” Grant told reporters. She drew parallels between their respective creative processes, stating, “We both are people who do projects, and I’ve lived with John Wick, I’ve lived with Neo. When he’s in a character, for example, I have so much respect for that understanding that this is the middle to the end of a project, right?”

She continued, drawing a comparison to her own artistic immersion: “And I think the same goes for painting. When I’m in painter mode, I am in it. I’m fully in it, and it’s not playing a character, but it is performing, you know, painting really is a form of performance too.”
Mutual Respect and Creative Space
Grant highlighted the mutual respect and space they afford each other in their careers. “He’s always so appreciative, so he’s always cautious, I think, with feedback, and I would say the same,” she said. “You want to always be respectful and leave the other person to bake their cake. Just talking about my love makes me sweat.”

Despite their individual creative depths, they also serve as invaluable sounding boards for one another. “I would say that there is all the listening in the world,” Grant shared. “That we know that we could talk about any problem or challenge or creative idea and talk about it forever if that is needed, and also respect the individual need to dive deep and have a process that’s maybe quiet or in another collaboration.”
Addressing Wedding Rumours
In September 2025, Grant took to social media to clarify speculation surrounding a potential wedding. She posted a candid photograph of the couple, clarifying, “This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!) We’re at Roden Crater.”

She continued her message with a touch of humour and a plea for accuracy: “I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”
A Shared Artistic Journey
The relationship between Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant has blossomed over more than a decade. Their connection first sparked at a dinner party in 2009. Their creative synergy soon followed, leading to their collaboration on the 2011 book Ode To Happiness, where Reeves penned the text and Grant provided the illustrations. This was followed by their 2016 series, Shadows.

The couple officially made their public debut as a couple on the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles in 2019. Beyond their artistic collaborations, they also co-founded the independent publishing house X Artists’ Books in 2017, further solidifying their shared passion for art and literature.
