Strengthening the Rosewood Titanium Project Team
PTR Minerals is taking significant steps to enhance its team at the Rosewood titanium project. The company has appointed Victor Bruinsma, a former metallurgist from Iluka, to oversee metallurgical development, and Neil Patten-Williams, a seasoned mineral sands marketer, to advance product marketing strategy. These moves are part of an effort to strengthen the technical and commercial capabilities of the project as it progresses through its development phase.
Bruinsma brings extensive experience in metallurgy, having worked at Iluka, one of the leading companies in the mineral sands sector. His role will focus on maximizing the value of Rosewood’s products by exploring ways to improve processing techniques and increase the titanium content. He will work closely with Mineral Technologies, who are currently conducting a second 3-tonne bulk sample from Rosewood East. This collaboration will help assess both upstream and downstream processing options, with the goal of improving grade, reducing impurities, and evaluating early downstream processing opportunities.
Patten-Williams, with over 24 years of experience in mineral sands marketing, will play a crucial role in engaging with potential future customers. His expertise in building strong customer relationships is expected to be instrumental in discussions regarding the application of Rosewood’s products and how they can meet customer needs. He will work alongside the technical team to develop and optimize the product suite from the Rosewood project.
Board Changes and Strategic Focus
In addition to these key appointments, PTR is also making changes to its board. Donald Stephens, a non-executive director, will step down on May 31, 2026. This change is part of PTR’s broader strategy to bring in more technical and development expertise to the board. The company is seeking to bolster its internal capabilities as it moves forward with the Rosewood project.
The decision to add new talent reflects the growing importance of having a strong technical foundation for titanium projects. While good geology is essential, the success of such projects often depends on the ability to transform promising mineralogy into a viable product strategy that can generate revenue.
Technical Advancements and Market Potential
PTR’s latest mineral work at Rosewood East has revealed the presence of heavy mineral sands composed mainly of high-value titanium minerals. The sands are also coarse-grained, which makes them well-suited for recovery using standard gravity spirals. This is a positive sign for the project, but the real challenge lies in turning these geological advantages into a commercially viable product.
By bringing in a former Iluka metallurgist and an experienced mineral sands marketer, PTR is positioning itself to address these challenges effectively. These additions could significantly boost investor confidence, particularly in the mineral sands sector, where the ability to sell to the right customers and offer the right products can be just as important as the quantity and quality of the resource.

PTR Minerals continues to focus on developing Rosewood into a long-life titanium project. With the right combination of technical expertise, marketing strategy, and strategic board representation, the company is well-placed to navigate the complexities of the mineral sands market and deliver value to stakeholders.
