Tragic Incident at Brooklyn Park Leaves Family in Shock
A heartbreaking incident has left a New York City family grieving after a 16-year-old teenager fell from a metal spotlight tower while taking photos of the city skyline for social media. The tragic event occurred on Friday at a waterfront park in Brooklyn, where the teen, Timothee Englund, lost his life following the fall.
Timothee tumbled 15 feet from the top of the structure located in Bushwick Inlet Park in Williamsburg. According to reports, the metal tower was enclosed by a chain-link fence with a large gap underneath it, which allowed the teen to slip through and climb up. This access point is now under scrutiny as investigators try to determine how the accident happened.
New York City Police responded to a 911 call about the fall and rushed the teen to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. Despite their efforts, Timothee was unconscious and unresponsive when he arrived and later succumbed to his injuries.
His parents, Yvette and Tobias Englund, described their son as a “goofy” and “funny” individual who brought joy to everyone around him. Yvette, 52, shared that her son was “amazing” and “loving.” Tobias, 57, added, “We cracked a lot of jokes.”
A Life Full of Energy and Passion
Timothee was an active kid who loved sports. He was a sophomore at Manhattan Village Academy, a liberal arts school located in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan. His family revealed that he planned to join the wrestling team in the fall.
“He was a high school kid,” his grieving father said. “He was an athlete. He played soccer and pickup basketball when we went to the gym.”
The family lived just six blocks away from the scene of their son’s devastating accident. Following the incident, medical supplies and trash were found scattered around the tower, indicating the urgency of the first responders’ arrival.
Questions Remain Unanswered
Timothee’s parents are still searching for answers regarding how their teenage son fell and why he would take such a risky action. “We don’t know what happened,” Tobias said, expressing his confusion and grief.
It appears that the park is a popular spot for neighborhood teens. One person who was leaving the area just after the fall told reporters that they came to the park “all the time.”

Per News12 Brooklyn, several parkgoers were around enjoying the nearly 60-degree highs of the first day of spring. “That’s so sad. It’s absolutely tragic,” one person told the outlet.
No Criminal Activity Detected
Although the circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear, no criminal activity was detected, and no arrests have been made. The Daily Mail contacted the NYPD for more information, but details about the incident are still being investigated.

As the community mourns the loss of a young life, questions about safety measures and the accessibility of such structures continue to be raised. Timothee’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of caution, especially in areas that may seem safe but can pose hidden dangers.
