Ex-NFL Star Faces Legal and Career Challenges
A former NFL star, Christian Wilkins, is currently navigating a complex situation involving legal allegations and potential career opportunities. The defensive tackle, who was recently released by the Las Vegas Raiders, has become the subject of significant media attention following reports of an incident that led to his departure from the team.
Wilkins, 30, was reportedly cut by the Raiders after a locker room incident where he kissed a teammate on the head. While some described the action as ‘playful’, the unnamed teammate did not appear to share the same sentiment. This event was brought to the attention of the Raiders’ human resources department, and it has since been reported that this situation is proving difficult for other teams to navigate.
Despite the controversy surrounding the incident, there are indications that Wilkins may soon find a new team. According to recent reports, 26 NFL teams have shown interest in signing the defensive tackle. It is said that Wilkins is expected to find a new home as soon as he desires, even though he has not played in the NFL since October 2024.

The issue of Wilkins’ contract with the Raiders has also been a point of contention. He was signed to a $110 million deal, but his time with the team came to an end after just one year. Reports suggest that concerns over how he managed his injury rehabilitation were also factors in his release. Wilkins is still recovering from a Jones fracture in his left foot, which he sustained in October 2024.
In July 2025, the Raiders reportedly believed that Wilkins needed surgery for his foot injury. However, the player reportedly refused the procedure. As a result, the team voided the remaining guaranteed money on his contract, which was estimated at $35.2 million. The decision was based on the claim that Wilkins had failed to maintain his physical condition necessary for playing.
Following his release, Wilkins sought assistance from the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to file a grievance on his behalf. However, no official outcome has been reported on this matter.
Wilkins was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2019 draft. He spent five seasons with the Dolphins before joining the Raiders. His journey through the NFL has been marked by both success and challenges, and his current situation highlights the complexities of professional sports careers.
As the football world watches closely, the next steps for Wilkins remain uncertain. Whether he will be able to secure a new contract and return to the field remains to be seen. For now, the focus is on his recovery and the potential for a new chapter in his career.
