23XI Racing Secures Historic Daytona 500 Victory
The 2026 NASCAR Cup season has delivered a monumental moment for 23XI Racing, as driver Tyler Reddick clinched a dramatic victory in the prestigious Daytona 500. This win marks a significant milestone for the team, co-owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and seasoned NASCAR veteran Denny Hamlin, adding its most coveted prize to an already impressive collection of achievements.
Founded in 2021, 23XI Racing has rapidly ascended the ranks of stock car racing, demonstrating remarkable performance and strategic prowess. Prior to this Daytona 500 triumph, the team had already amassed seven wins at the Cup level. Last year, the team celebrated its first “crown jewel” victory when Bubba Wallace triumphed in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The momentum continued with Reddick’s latest, perhaps most significant, achievement.
A Masterclass in Teamwork and Strategy
Reddick’s path to the winner’s circle was a testament to strategic brilliance and exceptional teamwork. He led a mere one lap in the entirety of the race, but it was the crucial final lap where his strategy, and the support of his teammates, truly shone. A critical push from teammate Riley Herbst proved instrumental in securing the win, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines 23XI Racing.

Following the exhilarating finish, a visibly elated Michael Jordan shared his immediate reaction with NASCAR on FOX. “I can’t even believe it,” Jordan exclaimed, just two days shy of his 63rd birthday. “Yeah, I mean it was so, so gratifying. I mean, we had four guys that were really fighting, that was helping each other out. I mean, you never know how these races gonna end right? It’s like you’re just try to survive.”
Jordan was particularly effusive in his praise for Riley Herbst’s crucial contribution. “I thought Riley [Herbst] did an unbelievable job by pushing at the end. Yeah, that shows you what teamwork can really, really do. He didn’t get enough credit. He won’t get enough credit, but we feel the love. We understand exactly what he did.”
He further elaborated on the team’s performance throughout the grueling race: “I mean, we just hung in there all day. Great strategy by the team and we gave ourselves a chance at the end. Look I’m ecstatic. I don’t even know what to say. It feels like I won a championship, but until I get my ring I won’t even know.”
Strong Team Performance Across the Board
The success of Reddick’s Daytona 500 victory was amplified by the strong performances of his teammates. Riley Herbst, who played a pivotal role in the final moments, crossed the finish line in eighth place, marking a career-best result for him in the iconic event. Bubba Wallace, who led the most laps of the race with a total of 40, secured a respectable tenth-place finish.
Adding to the team’s presence, Corey Heim made his Daytona 500 debut in a fourth 23XI entry, finishing the challenging race in 28th position. This collective effort underscores the depth of talent and the unified approach that has become a hallmark of 23XI Racing.
