Case of Woman Accused in Murder of Queensland Teenager Adjourned
The case of a woman accused of murdering a Queensland teenager has been adjourned to May 15 — marking the first anniversary of the teen’s disappearance. The hearing took place in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court, where Tanika Kristan Bromley did not appear when her matter was mentioned.
Bromley faces one count of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse. The court was informed that the defense is still waiting for outstanding material related to the extensive evidence presented in the case. This delay highlights the complexity of the legal proceedings and the need for thorough preparation before moving forward.
In addition to Bromley, James Thomas Muir Wood has also been charged in connection with the alleged murder of the teenager. The case has drawn significant attention due to the tragic circumstances surrounding the young victim’s disappearance and subsequent discovery.
Emergency services launched a large-scale search for Pheobe Bishop after she failed to board a flight from Bundaberg Airport on May 15, 2025. Her body was later found in bushland near Gin Gin weeks later, bringing a grim conclusion to the search efforts.
Another individual, Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser, has also been charged in relation to the alleged murder. Mittelheuser faces two counts of accessory after the fact to murder and one count of attempting to pervert justice. During today’s court session, it was revealed that his application for Legal Aid funding had been denied, and his legal team is currently appealing this decision.
Mittelheuser is scheduled to appear in court again on May 5, which may provide further updates on his case. The ongoing legal proceedings underscore the seriousness of the charges and the importance of ensuring a fair and thorough investigation.
