The group has vowed to continue their military operations in the coming days, adding another layer of complexity to the already volatile Middle East landscape. These attacks, launched from Yemen, mark the first time the Houthis have directly targeted Israel since the war commenced.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been actively pursuing defense cooperation agreements with key regional players. Following his visit to Doha, Ukraine and Qatar have signed a defense pact. This agreement comes as Kyiv, having accumulated significant expertise in drone and anti-drone warfare during its four-year conflict with Russia, is now offering its capabilities to Gulf nations facing Iranian-backed attacks.
Pakistan Facilitates Passage Through Strait of Hormuz Amidst Regional Diplomacy
In a notable diplomatic move, Iran has granted permission for an additional 20 Pakistani-flagged ships to transit the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. This waterway has faced significant disruptions since the war began approximately a month ago. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the development, stating that two vessels will be permitted to cross daily. He described this as a “welcome and constructive gesture by Iran,” heralding it as a potential precursor to regional stability and peace through dialogue and confidence-building measures.
Minister Dar also engaged in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation. Pakistan, sharing a substantial border with Iran, is set to host high-level diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, aiming to mediate an end to the conflict.

US Deploys Amphibious Assault Ship to Middle East Amidst Invasion Fears
The USS Tripoli, an amphibious assault ship carrying approximately 3,500 sailors and Marines, has arrived in the Middle East. This deployment, according to the US Central Command, comes amid growing concerns that the United States may be preparing for a ground invasion of Iranian territory. The warship is equipped with transport and strike fighter aircraft, as well as amphibious assault and tactical assets. This move follows the earlier ordering of the USS Boxer and two other vessels to the region from San Diego, indicating a significant US military buildup.
While US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has suggested that US objectives could be met without deploying ground forces, President Donald Trump’s intentions have remained ambiguous.
Protests Erupt in US and Europe Against Trump Amidst War Discontent
Across the United States and Europe, critics of President Donald Trump have organized “No Kings” protests. The demonstrations highlight growing public discontent with a range of Trump’s policies, including immigration, allegations of corruption, the cost-of-living crisis, and the ongoing war with Iran. Trump’s approval ratings have seen a decline, with a recent poll indicating a drop from 47% at the start of his second term to 36%. Americans are also reportedly concerned about rising fuel prices, exacerbated by the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil and gas supplies.

Ukraine Signs Defense Pact with Qatar; IRGC Claims Strike on UAE Depot
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s unannounced visit to Doha culminated in the signing of a defense cooperation deal with Qatar. This agreement leverages Ukraine’s expertise in drone warfare.
Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have destroyed a “Ukrainian anti-drone system depot” in Dubai. The IRGC statement alleged that this depot was assisting the US military. However, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry denied this claim, which emerged shortly after President Zelenskyy’s announcement of defense cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, including anti-drone warfare assistance. The IRGC’s claim could not be independently verified.
