Lady Gaga Cancels Montreal Show Due to Illness
Lady Gaga has made the difficult decision to cancel her final show in Montreal, Canada, just hours before she was scheduled to perform. The singer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, had been set to deliver a performance to a sold-out crowd. However, at 5pm on the night of the concert, she shared an emotional message on her Instagram stories.
“I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show,” the 40-year-old wrote. She explained that she had been “fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days” and had done everything possible to recover. Unfortunately, her condition had worsened, leading her doctor to advise against performing.
“My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and, to be honest, I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve,” she continued. “I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down. I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me.”
To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.
Recent Performances in Montreal
Before this latest cancellation, Lady Gaga had performed in Montreal on both Thursday and Friday the week prior. She described those performances as “magical and deeply meaningful.” The singer had also wrapped up the Australian leg of her tour in December 2025, though it wasn’t without its challenges.
During a Sydney concert, the Grammy Award-winner had to halt the show after one of her dancers, Michael Dameski, slipped and fell off the stage during heavy rain.
The incident occurred during the song Garden of Eden at Accor Stadium. Gaga rushed to check on Dameski and stopped the concert, instructing the backstage crew to “stop.” The music halted, and the lights dimmed as the crowd filmed the event.
Gaga addressed the audience, saying, “just one second,” before checking on Dameski and asking, “Are you okay?” She then explained to the crowd, “we just had an accident on the stage, everything’s okay,” and asked, “just, everyone wait a second, please.”
The Abracadabra singer then jumped off the stage herself to check on him, hugging him before restarting the show.
Dancer’s Response to the Incident
Dameski later released a statement on Instagram, expressing his feelings about the fall. He said he was “shocked and embarrassed” by the incident.
“I just wanted to quickly update you and say that I am okay,” the post began. “This has been an extremely overwhelming experience. For someone who has danced professionally for years, something like this has never really happened to me.”
He admitted feeling a range of emotions after the fall, including losing control of his body and underestimating the slippery stage due to the weather. “It was a hard thing for me to accept,” he said.
Despite feeling “sad and overwhelmed,” Dameski said he didn’t want to give up because he was dancing for his family, who were in the audience, and his hometown. “My body was sore and bruised, but I had to keep going and finish strong. It was the only way for me to heal mentally and feel better once the show was finished.”
Dameski expressed gratitude for the support he received from his boss (presumably Lady Gaga), the rest of the crew, and the crowd. “I am now taking the time to rest, recover, and move forward with gratitude for the lessons, love and the resilience this experience gave me.”
