Mbeere North Member of Parliament, Leo Wa Muthende, has expressed profound admiration for the expansive and innovative dairy farm operated by Oscar Sudi in Uasin Gishu County. Following a recent visit to the Kapseret legislator’s agricultural enterprise, dubbed OS Dairies, Wa Muthende hailed it as an exemplary model of modern, international-standard dairy farming, highlighting its significant contributions to food security, job creation, and economic transformation.
The visit, which took place on Friday, January 30, left a lasting impression on the Mbeere North MP. He observed firsthand the sophisticated operations, from the state-of-the-art cow sheds to the integrated feed milling plant and the advanced milking facilities. Wa Muthende remarked, “I was honoured to visit the farm in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu county; an impressive model of international-standard dairy farming. From modern practices to a clear vision for agribusiness, the farm stands as a testament to how innovation in agriculture can drive food security, create jobs, and transform local economies.”

The MP’s tour included a walk through the industrial-grade cow sheds, home to numerous cattle, and an inspection of the milling plant where Sudi produces feed for his livestock. The ultra-modern milking area also drew his attention, showcasing the farm’s commitment to efficiency and animal welfare.
The Entrepreneurial Odyssey of Oscar Sudi
Oscar Sudi’s journey into large-scale dairy farming is a compelling narrative of ambition, resilience, and diversification, stemming from humble beginnings. Born into a family of squatters in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, Sudi harboured a strong desire for financial success from a young age. His entrepreneurial spirit first manifested at fifteen when he began selling fruits and snacks to fellow students during school breaks.
This initial venture laid the foundation for a series of diverse business undertakings. Sudi’s early career saw him engage in various trades, including collecting leftover charcoal pieces and working as a matatu (minibus taxi) tout. Demonstrating remarkable foresight and determination, he eventually saved enough to purchase his own public service vehicle.
His entrepreneurial drive, however, did not cease with the matatu business. Sudi ventured into farming, a move that proved exceptionally fruitful, yielding an impressive KSh 100,000 from a single season. This financial success provided the capital for further investment, leading him to diversify into the fuel business, which significantly expanded his wealth.

A trip to Nairobi proved to be another pivotal moment, inspiring Sudi to invest in pool tables. This venture was remarkably lucrative, generating over KSh 1,000 daily from each unit. With a growing portfolio of successful businesses, Sudi strategically sold both his matatu and pool table ventures to concentrate his efforts on land brokerage and large-scale wheat farming in Narok County, further solidifying his position as a shrewd businessman.
A Deep Dive into OS Dairies
Today, Oscar Sudi’s OS Dairies stands as a testament to his vision and dedication to sustainable agriculture. The expansive Kapseret farm is a meticulously managed operation, showcasing Sudi’s commitment to modern agricultural practices. Previously, Sudi had showcased his property, which includes a dedicated area housing over 20 calves, alongside a separate section for more than 20 dairy cattle.
The farm’s high productivity is evident in the sheer volume of milk produced, necessitating transport by truck for distribution. Beyond dairy, Sudi also cultivates crops, including maize, on his farm, which are utilized as fodder for his cattle, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.

A significant milestone in the farm’s development was its recognition by the New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) in 2024. Sudi proudly announced this achievement on his Instagram page, highlighting that OS Dairies had emerged as the leading supplier during the assessment period. This accolade underscores Sudi’s successful transition and significant impact within the agricultural sector, particularly the dairy industry.
