National Police Agency Unveils Unified Digital Platform for Enhanced Citizen Services
The National Police Agency has officially launched a comprehensive online platform, dubbed ‘Police Civil Affairs 24’, designed to streamline and centralize a wide array of citizen services previously scattered across multiple websites. This significant digital transformation aims to provide greater accessibility and efficiency for the public, consolidating 22 individual police civil service portals into a single, user-friendly interface.
The introduction of Police Civil Affairs 24 represents a substantial expansion of online service offerings. The number of civil services available for online processing has surged from 52 to 86 types, a marked increase from the previous Police Civil Affairs Portal. Furthermore, the availability of mobile electronic certificates has grown significantly, from just 5 to an impressive 19 types. This expansion means that a considerable number of services, which traditionally necessitated in-person visits to police stations or the submission of physical documentation, can now be efficiently managed through convenient non-face-to-face and online channels.
Key Enhancements and Features of Police Civil Affairs 24:
- Expanded Online Service Portfolio: Citizens can now access a broader range of police-related civil services digitally, reducing the need for physical visits.
- Increased Mobile Certificate Options: The availability of 19 types of mobile electronic certificates offers greater flexibility and convenience for users.
- Integrated Fee Payment System: The platform seamlessly integrates the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute’s payment system and an electronic revenue stamp payment service. This allows for the entire process, from initial inquiry and application to final fee payment, to be completed within the Police Civil Affairs 24 website.
- Simplified Authentication Process: Users can log in to the platform without requiring separate membership registration. The system supports simple authentication methods, mobile identification, and shared certificates, making access straightforward.
- Unified Government Access (Any-ID): By adopting the government’s integrated authentication system, Any-ID, citizens can utilize a single login credential to access other essential government services, including the popular Government24 portal and the e-People petition portal.
The National Police Agency has also prioritized mobile accessibility with the development of a dedicated Police Civil Affairs 24 mobile application. This ensures that citizens can conveniently access all services not only via personal computers but also through their smartphones and tablets, offering unparalleled flexibility in how and where they interact with police civil services.
A spokesperson from the National Police Agency expressed optimism about the new platform, stating, “We anticipate that Police Civil Affairs 24 will significantly enhance both the accessibility and the overall efficiency with which citizens can apply for and process police civil services. Our commitment to continuous improvement means we will keep refining and expanding its functionalities to better serve the public.” This initiative underscores a broader trend towards digital transformation within government agencies, aiming to leverage technology to improve public engagement and service delivery. The consolidation of these services into a single, intuitive platform is expected to reduce administrative burdens for both citizens and the police force, ultimately leading to a more responsive and citizen-centric approach to public services.
